Sydney Spring Carnival

The Sydney Spring Racing Carnival runs from August through to early October at both Rosehill and Randwick racecourses in Sydney, headlined by the Epsom Handicap in late September.

The Australian Turf Club (ATC) conducts metropolitan racing in Sydney at Rosehill, Randwick, Canterbury and Warwick Farm racecourses.

Two $1,000,000 races are hosted by the ATC during the spring – the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill and the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick.

The Golden Rose always attracts the best three-year-old gallopers going around in early September due to the large prizemoney on offer.

Later in the month, the Epsom Handicap (1600m), the feature mile race of the spring, is held alongside the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2600m) and Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m).

The popular Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) takes place two weeks before the Epsom at the same track.
