Music Magnate hitting right note for punters in 2017 Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm

April 27, 2017

Eagle Farm racecourse will host the 2017 Victory Stakes this Saturday in Brisbane and reigning Doomben 10,000 winner Music Magnate is the ruling favourite at Sportsbet.

The classy five-year-old opened at $2.25 for the Group 2 feature race, but has eased to $2.30, following good money for Barry Lockwood’s Tumbler, $9.00 into $7.50.

Winterbottom Stakes winner Takedown is second pick at $3.30, easing from his opening price of $3.20.

Hopfgarten, trained by Robert Heathcote and a five-time Eagle Farm winner, is the only other runner under single figures at $7.50.

“Music Magnate opened his Group 1 account in Brisbane last year and he looks in good shape for this year’s winter carnival campaign,” said Sportsbet’s Will Byrne.

“He trialled well, has a great first-up record and can handle the wet, which may help on the tricky surface.”
