2016 Winterbottom Stakes preview and odds – Terravista and Malaguerra equal favourites

November 25, 2016

racingThe 2016 Winterbottom Stakes will light up Ascot Racecourse in Perth tomorrow and eastern state sprinters Terravista and Malaguerra head betting at $3.50 equal favourites.

Online bookmaker Sportsbet offered $3.80 for Terravista, but he now heads betting at $3.50, alongside Darley Stakes winner Malaguerra.

Terravista resumed with a second place in the Listed G.H. Mumm Stakes at Flemington on Crown Oaks Day and will appreciate the track conditions in Perth.

The Peter Gelagotis trained Malaguerra stormed home to win the Group 1 Darley Classic at Flemington on the final day of the carnival, much to the delight of a myriad of punters.

Both have fared well at the gates with Terravista jumping from five and Malaguera from one.

Locally trained Rock Magic $7.50 is the only other runner under double figures.

Another eastern state invader Sheidel, who started her career in Perth, has also received solid backing and has firmed from $12.00 into $11.00.

State Solicitor $10.00 also has admirers.

“Hes seven-years-old and hasn’t won for more than a year, but punters think Terravista can break his drought,”said Sportsbet”s Ben Bulmer.

“He’s the best backed runner ahead of Malaguerra and Sheidel and we’ve hardly written a ticket for Rock Magic.”

The 2016 Winterbottom Stakes will take place on Saturday 26th November 2017 at Ascot Racecourse in Perth, Western Australia, and is Race 8 on the card at 5:00pm local time.
