2016 Players Championship preview and odds

May 11, 2016

golf-adam-scottThe 2016 Players Championship will tee off on Thursday at TPC Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida with Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy the ruling favourite.

McIlroy is $9.00 at online bookmaker William Hill, from Jason Day $10.00 and Jordan Spieth $11.00.

Last year’s winner Rickie Fowler is $17.00, while 2014 victor Martin Kaymer is $81.00.

Next in betting is Justin Rose, Hideki Matsuyama and Adam Scott, who are all $26.00.

Recent Players Championship Winners

2015 – Rickie Fowler (-7*)
2014 – Martin Kaymer (-13)
2013 – Tiger Woods (-13)
2012 – Matt Kuchar (-13)
2011 – K.J Choi (-13*)
* won in a playoff.

This is a good event to find players in form at good value as it quite often throws up a big priced winner, with reigning champion Rickie Fowler fighting history to make it back to back wins.

Only Jack Nicklaus has won this event three times, with Tiger Woods victory in 2013 making him only the fifth player to win the Player Championships twice.

Look for players with form around this type of course as they are the ones who could bob up at good odds.
