Perth Autumn Carnival

perth racing carnivalThe 2017 Perth Autumn Racing Carnival takes place from March through to July at both Ascot and Belmont racecourses in Perth, Western Australia.

Summer racing is held at Ascot Racecourse while Belmont takes over during the winter months.

Ascot hosts three feature race days with the $500,000 Group 2 Karrakatta Plate & $250,000 Group 2 WA Oaks highlighting the first day on Saturday 1st April 2017. The following week features the $400,000 Group 2 WATC Derby, followed by the Group 3 WA Sires Produce Stakes on the final day.

Belmont racecourse is used during the winter months and is home to four group races in May, June, and July, which are run over four separate Saturdays.

Feature races at Belmont are the $125,000 Group 3 Roma Cup on Saturday 20th May 2017 and the $125,000 Group 3 Belmont Sprint on Saturday 3rd June 2017. Two weeks later comes the $125,000 Group 3 Hyperion Stakes on Saturday 17th June 2017, and the $125,000 Group 3 Strickland Stakes on Saturday 1st July 2017.

About Perth Racing

The Western Australian Turf Club (WATC), under the operations of Perth Racing, hosts thoroughbred racing in Perth, Western Australia.

City racing in Perth is run by the WATC and takes place at two riverside tracks, Ascot and Belmont Park. Both tracks are located close to the Perth city centre. Perth Racing is home to Spring and Summer Racing Carnivals at Ascot, with the Winter Racing Carnival held at Belmont Park.

The Railway Stakes and Winterbottom Stakes are feature spring races at Ascot, while the Karrakatta Plate and WATC Derby are major races in the autumn. The Belmont Sprint is one of four feature group races held at Belmont Park during winter.
