Brisbane Winter Carnival
The 2011 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival takes place in the months of May and June in Brisbane, Queensland, with the $1,000,000 Stradbroke Handicap the feature race of the carnival in early June at Eagle Farm racecourse.
Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) conduct metropolitan racing in Brisbane at Doomben and Eagle Farm race tracks.
The Brisbane winter carnival has some fantastic racing and Doomben is home to three Group 1 races in May which are the $400,000 BTC Cup over 1200 metres, the $500,000 Doomben Cup over 2020 metres and the main race of the winter at Doomben, the $650,000 Doomben 10,000 feature sprint over 1350 metres.
Eagle Farm hosts five Group 1 events in June, with the $1,000,000 Stradbroke Handicap over 1400 metres being major highlight of the Brisbane winter and always a wonderful event for our best sprinters.
The $500,000 The TJ Smith over 1200 metres, the $500,000 Queensland Derby over 2400 metres, the $500,000 Winter Stakes over 1400 metres and the $400,000 Queensland Oaks over 2400 metres are all quality Group 1 races held at Eagle Farm during the Brisbane winter racing carnival.
