Hawks and Roos kick off 2016 AFL Round 13 split round

hawks-mitchellAFL Round 13 heralds the beginning of three weeks of split rounds and the Kangaroos and Hawks get things underway on Friday 17th June 2016 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne.

Reigning premier Hawthorn are ticking along nicely without setting the world on fire and they face a top of the ladder North Melbourne who are struggling against the better sides in the comp.

William Hill has the Hawks a clear $1.47 favourite to defeat the Kangaroos, who are $2.60.

Oddly enough, the Hawks and Roos have played their past three matches at Etihad Stadium with Hawthorn winning 2015 & 2013 and North Melbourne 2014.

They were high scoring affairs with total points for each game 200, 196 and 220.

One would expect the strong Hawks backline will prove too good for the unreliable Roos forwards and punters are backing the brown and gold here.

Three matches on Saturday 18th July with two afternoon games featuring the Brisbane Lions and West Coast Eagles at the Gabba in Brisbane and Fremantle hosting Port Adelaide at Domain Stadium in Perth.

The match of the round is arguably the Western Bulldogs and Geelong Cats clash at Etihad Stadium in the evening where two quality football sides will go head to head with a top four stake at berth.

The Bulldogs are $2.20 outsiders at William Hill with the Cats $1.64 favourites, no doubt based on the fact that Geelong has won the past 9 encounters against the Bulldogs, conceding 64, 56, 86, 73, 75, 87, 60, 82 points in each match.

The last time the Bulldogs defeated the Cats was in 2009 and punters are expecting Geelong to bare their claws again on Saturday night and show that the Dogs are all bark and no bite.

Two games on Sunday 19th June and the first has the Sydney Swans and Melbourne doing battle at the SCG in Sydney and the second sees Essendon welcoming the GWS Giants to Etihad Stadium in Melbourne.
