2010 Makybe Diva Stakes preview – Flemington racecourse

A capacity field is set to go round in the 2010 Makybe Diva Stakes on Saturday 4th September at Caulfield racecourse in Melbourne with Sydney galloper Danleigh the ruling favourite on a packed nine race card.

Chris Waller galloper Danleigh $3.00 has opened favourite in early markets and his two runs this campaign in Sydney has returned placings in both the Missile Stakes and Warwick Stakes and he will miss the Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick to tackle this race.

Danleigh should be close to his best for this event but considering he is yet to win in five starts over this distance and has been unplaced at both starts at Flemington, he is unders at his current odds.

Vigor $6.00 was responsible for a big finish when fourth in the Liston Stakes when resuming and he will appreciate being back at Flemington where he has won five races. Jamie Winks will be aboard the Danny O’Brien 6yo and he looks well placed here but will have to negotiate a wide gate on the day.

Mick Price 5yo Heart Of Dreams $7.00 ran a top third in the Liston Stakes at his first run this time in and he is a winner over this course and distance as a 3yo at Group 1 level and should run well.

Others in the market are Speed Gifted $8.00, Monaco Consul $9.00 and Ghostmilk $9.00 while former Victoria Derby winner Rebel Raider $11.00 returns to the scene of his greatest triumph and will create plenty of interest.

2010 Melbourne Cup fancy Shocking $17.00 goes around again and while he may need further racing he has a win over the track & trip and has to be respected.
