2010 Memsie Stakes preview at Caulfield racecourse
By Beejay on Aug 26, 2010 with Comments 0
A wonderful field has assembled for the 2010 Memsie Stakes to be held at Caulfield racecourse on Saturday 28th August with the clash between rising star Shoot Out and champion mare Typhoon Tracy set to be a beauty.
Ruling favourite for the Memsie Stakes is AJC Derby winner Shoot Out $2.60 who has won both of the early spring weight-for-ages in Melbourne which include the Bletchingly Stakes and Liston Stakes and the John Wallace trained 4yo has fared well in gate six his return to Caulfield.
Shoot Out has been set an ambitious program this spring with the Group 1 WS Cox Plate his main goal while the 2010 Caulfield Cup and 2010 Melbourne Cup are not out of the question. The star galloper has been most impressive this spring and appears very hard to beat again.
Outstanding Peter Moody mare Typhoon Tracy $3.20 resumes in the Memsie Stakes and she will be having her first start since failing in the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap last April.
Typhoon Tracy won the Group 1 Futurity Stakes and Group 1 Queen Of The Turf last time in and she is a winner of ten of her fourteen races to date. Luke Nolen is down to ride and the star galloper has a top fresh record with three wins and a third from four runs when resuming.
Bart Cumming’s brilliant High Chapparal 4yo So You Think $7.50 has drawn barrier 12 for his spring return and the 2009 WS Cox Plate winner is set for a big campaign according to the experts.
Steven Arnold will be aboard and So You Think has won fresh plus also has a win at the trip to indicate he will be thereabouts when the heat is on.
Whobegotyou $10.00 from the Mark Kavanagh stable will line-up in the Memsie Stakes fresh from his two runs during the Brisbane winter carnival where he ran second in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 before failing in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap finishing down the track.
The 5yo gelding invariably goes well when resuming and with Michael Rodd aboard from barrier one he has to be respected.
Quality mare Faint Perfume $10.00 will also return to racing on Saturday and master trainer Bart Cumming’s has the Crown Oak’s winner aimed at the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup where she is high up in betting.
Michelle Payne takes the ride on Faint Perfume who will jump from barrier seven and most likely need the run.

The Group 3 HDF McNeil Stakes for three-year-olds will also be held on Memsie Stakes Day and Australia’s number one feature race website Horse Racing Info will have a complete preview of all group races on Saturday.
The 2010 Memsie Stakes should be a fantastic race to add even more intrigue to the 2010 Melbourne spring racing carnival.
