Australian Punters believe the Coalition is not done with yet

Australian punters believe Saturday’s federal election will go down to the wire. In the past 48 hours, Australia’s number one betting agency Sportsbet has taken eight bets for every one bet on Labor, including a bet of $14,000 on the Coalition this morning at odds of $3.72.

“In our opinion Labor should only be slight favourites to win the election, but previous large wagers on them has forced us to keep their price lower than perhaps it deserves to be,” said Sportsbet’s Haydn Lane.

“Since Tuesday we’ve taken eight bets on the Coalition for every one Labor bet.”

Labor’s price got out to as high as $1.60 a week ago. A quick wave of Labor money saw that price slashed to $1.24, but since then support for the Coalition has seen Labor drift out to $1.28, while the Coalition has firmed from $4.00 into $3.65.

“If the recent money talks, Julia Gillard should not pack up her belongings in Altona just yet. The keys to The Lodge are still up for grabs,” said Lane.
