2010 Run To The Rose preview – Rosehill Saturday 14th August

Unbeaten Gai Waterhouse 3yo Squamosa has opened up at flip of the coin odds for the Group 3 Run To The Rose at Rosehill racecourse on Saturday 14th August.

Squamosa $2.00 has won his only two starts to date by 3 lengths on each occasion at both Kensington and Randwick and with Blake Spriggs aboard he appears well equipped to handle the step up to group class.

David Payne three-year-old Masquerader $4.20is also unbeaten in his only two runs and has already tasted black type success winning the Group 2 Todman Slipper Trial back in March during the Sydney autumn racing carnival.

Glyn Schofield will ride the Lucky Owners 3yo and he will jump from a handy gate in six but has to lug 58 kilograms being topweight in the race.

Also in the betting in early markets is the Tim Martin trained filly Sasa $7.50 who has not started since finishing second in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes behind Skilled.

A forward showing is on the cards for Sasa and she looks well placed under the guidance of Tye Angland from barrier three to enjoy a cosy run in transit.

The 2010 Sydney spring racing carnival is set to kick off with the $1,000,000 Group 1 Golden Rose on Saturday 28th August and the Run To The Rose is the traditional lead-up to that race.
