2010 Melbourne Cup nominations

The 2010 Melbourne Cup will be the 150th running of our most famous race and 253 horses have been nominated for the $6.2Million event to be held on Tuesday 2nd November at Flemington racecourse in Melbourne.
The 2010 Melbourne spring racing carnival also includes premier spring races the Caulfield Cup and WS Cox Plate which take place over consecutive Saturdays prior to Melbourne Cup week.

It will be Flemington’s turn to shine in late October when the 2010 Melbourne Cup Carnival takes centre stage and all of Australia comes to a standstill when the ‘race that stops a nation’ gets underway at 3pm on the first Tuesday in November.
Master trainer Bart Cummings will be aiming for his thirteenth Cup and has a number of entries including Cox Plate winner So You Think, Crown Oak’s winner Faint Perfume and Queensland Derby winner Dariana.
AJC Derby winner Shoot Out has been entered for the big three races over the spring and trainer John Wallace is aiming high with the star galloper.
2009 Melbourne Cup winner Shocking will be back to defend his crown while AAMI Victoria Derby winner Monaco Consul has been entered along with 2007 Melbourne Cup winner Efficient.
The International contingent includes Goodwood winner Illustrious Blue, 2008 Melbourne Cup runner-up Bauer and Japanese galloper Jaguar Mail trained by Noriyuki Hori.
Godolphin gallopers Campanologist and Mastery will create plenty of interest while proven trainer Dermot Weld has nominated talented types Profound Beauty, Rite Of Passage and Natural High.
