Germany and Spain will clash in one of the most anticipated matches of the 2010 World Cup when they go head to head in the second Semi-Final on Thursday 8th July to earn the right to play the Netherlands in the Final next Monday.
The match commences at 4:30am AEST Melbourne time at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa and will be televised live by SBS in Australia.
Australia’s number one betting agency Sportsbet has Spain 2.60 a slight favourite ahead Germany 2.80 with the draw paying 3.20 at time of writing.
The Netherlands await the winner of this match after the Dutch defeated Uruguay yesterday to advance to the 2010 World Cup Final for the third time in their history.
In an all European contest, this should be a cracker of a match between two quality in-form teams and the world waits with baited breath to see who will challenge the Netherlands for the right to be called world champions.

Jun 08 Germany 0-1 Spain (European Championhips)
Feb 03 Spain 3-1 Germany (Friendly)
Aug 00 Germany 4-1 Spain (Friendly)
Feb 95 Spain 0-0 Germany (Friendly)
Jun 94 Germany 1-1 Spain (World Cup)These two teams played each other in the 1994 World Cup where the result was a 1-1 draw at the group stage with Klinsmann (Ger) and Goikoetxea (Spa) the goal scorers. Both teams qualifed from Group C that year before both were knocked out at the Quarter Final stages.
The most recent meeting between the two teams was back in the 2008 Euro Champions ships where they met in the Final and Spain were victorious by a 1-0 scoreline thanks a Fernando Torres goal.
Germany have three World Cup winners trophies in 1954, 1974 and 1990 while Spain will be vying to play in their first World Cup final.
Germany vs Spain prediction
These two teams fought out the Euro 2008 Final in Austria where Spain ran out winners over Germany with a Fernando Torres strike that was enough to win the match.
Torres has yet to scale those great heights at this tournament and he has had little impact when on the ground, with Spain actually appearing a better team when he gets substituted and someone like Fabregas comes on.
Spain – LWWWW
Gr-Spain 0-1 Switzerland
Gr-Spain 2-0 Honduras
Gr-Spain 2-1 Chile
Rd-Spain 1-0 Portugal
QF-Spain 1-0 ParaguayDavid Villa with five goals has been brilliant for Spain this tournament and he is the reason why the Spaniards are only one game away from a World Cup Final and Villa can be expected to receive close attention from Germany.
The Germans have surpised everyone with their attacking football and they have beaten Australia, England and Argentina scoring 4 goals in each game and they have scored a total of 13 for the tournament.
Rising star Thomas Mueller will be sorely missed for Germany but with the talent of Mesut Ozil and Bastian Schweinsteiger at their disposal around the middle and an improving proven striker in Miroslav Klose up front, Germany still have plenty of attacking options.
Germany’s midfield has been the most impressive this tournament and their ability to defend well and then counter-attack with great speed has been a highlight.
Germany – WLWWW
Gr-Germany 4-0 Australia
Gr-Germany 0-1 Serbia
Gr-Germany 1-0 Ghana
Rd-Germany 4-1 England
QF-Germany 4-0 ArgentinaOn facts and figures it is hard not to be impressed by Germany, especially when you consider the ease in which they scored goals against strong teams in England and Argentina.
Spain on the other hand has struggled to score, but when they do manage to get on the score board they have the ability to control posession of the ball and shut the game down.
In what should be a quality game the Germans look over the odds for ours and we like their chances to face the Netherlands.
