The 2010 Doomben 10000 is the feature sprint race of the Doomben racing carnival and takes place on Saturday 29th May at Doomben racecourse in Brisbane.
Raced over 1350 metres, the Doomben 10000 is a Group 1 event that carries prizemoney of $650,000 and Apache Cat won the 2009 Doomben 10000 12 months ago for the second year running, when he was too good for Black Piranha and All Silent.

Favourite for this year’s race is top mare Ortensia who is $4.40 in early markets at IASbet. She will come from barrier 15 with Hugh Bowman aboard and has an undeniable chance judging by her Group 1 Galaxy win two starts back when resuming.
Ortensia ran third in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap this time last year as a 3yo and she is much better suited over this journey than when a 1.5L fifth at her most recent start in the Group 1 BTC Cup over 1200 metres.
Next in betting is outstanding Les Bridge mare Hot Danish $4.80 who has drawn ideally in barrier 3 as she loves to race on the pace and Tim Clark will be able to position her perfectly from that draw to give her every chance.
Classy filly Melito $6.00 won the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick before finishing second in her last two starts in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes at Randwick and BTC Cup at this track and she is in great form for this event.
The interesting runner is quality 4yo gelding Whobegotyou $6.50 who is having his first outing since finishing unplaced in the Group 1 WS Cox Plate at Moonee Valley last spring.
Mark Kavanagh has outlined an ambitious program for Whobegotyou as he attempts to take out the feature Brisbane sprint double of the Doomben 10000 and Stradbroke Handicap in his first two runs from a spell. Whobegotyou will jump from barrier 19 in the Doomben 10000.
Mic Mac $9.00 put the writing on the wall when a close-up fourth in the BTC Cup and he has drawn nicely in barrier 7 for the feature sprint.
BTC Cup winner Albert The Fat is $26.00 at IASbet and will have to overcome a very wide barrier 21 to score the BTC Cup & Doomben 10000 double.
