2010 Sydney Cup Day Preview & Odds at Randwick

2010 Sydney Cup Day is on this Saturday 24th April at Randwick racecourse and a large crowd will descend on Sydney’s premier race track for the running of the $400,000 Group 1 Sydney Cup.

Always one of the biggest days of racing in the autumn, Sydney Cup Day has six Group races on the card, including four quality Group 1 races.

It doesn’t seem like twelve months since Craig Williams rode the Colin Little trained Ista Kareem to victory in the 2009 Sydney Cup, when he came home hard to grab the mare Divine Rebel close to home, with New Zealand galloper Mr Tipsy third.

All eyes will be on the 3200 metre Sydney Cup on Saturday afternoon at Randwick and leading bookmaker IASbet has the Bart Cumming’s trained Precedence the current favourite at $6.50 for the Cup. Bart’s son Anthony Cummings, will take on the old man with his stayer Zavite who is rated the main danger at $7.00.

Next in betting is Littorio $8.00 from Jessicabeel $8.50, Moatize $8.50, No Wine No Song $8.50 and Harris Tweed at $10.00

Sydney Cup Day also has three top class Group 1 races on the card that compliment the Cup and they are the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, All Aged Stakes and Champagne Stakes.
