2010 Masters Golf Preview – 2010 Masters Betting & Odds

The 2010 Masters Golf Tournament will be held at Augusta National Golf Club between Thursday 8th April and Sunday 11th April. All eyes will be on Tiger Woods as he makes his return to professional golf since a series of indiscretions led to an enforced break from the game.

The Masters is one of the great golf events each year and even without the Tiger Woods drama, the 2010 Masters was sure to be a wonderful event, with leading golfers from around the world heading to Augusta, Georgia for the right to wear the coveted Green Jacket.

Ángel Cabrera won the 2009 Masters in a play-off and he will be endeavouring to go back to back just as Tiger Woods managed to do in 2001 & 2002.

The Masters was first played in 1934 at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia and Jack Nicklaus is the oldest winner at 46 and has the most victories with 6, while Tiger Woods at 21 was the youngest winner of the Masters.

Major 2010 Masters Chances

Tiger Woods

Everyone knows the Woods recent saga and everyone is well aware of his golfing ability. If he was to come back and win the Masters after all his recent happenings then it would be one of the greatest sporting achievements of all time. Woods is very much under the odds as usual and that means better odds about everyone else. The last time Woods won this event was 2005 and he has finished Top 10 each year since then, which shows how consistent he is around here.

Bookies have markets with and without Woods, and we recommend you join Betfair here for free using our promo code FBB122 and open an account specifically to Lay Tiger Woods not to win the Masters. He is no value to win the event, so laying him against the best, fit and in-form golfers in the world appears the way to go. The Masters is one of the hardest events on the planet to win and we think Woods will be most competitive, but he will be fighting an uphill battle to win this one.

Retief Goosen

Has won two majors and finished Top 10 three times in the past five years. He has a runner-up to his name in 2002 but missed the cut last year. Goosens has solid form at the Masters and goes in on the back of some handy recent efforts, including a fifth at the Transitions Championship and an equal fourth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Phil Mickelson

Big Phil has a very consistent Master’s record over the past 5 years with four Top 10 finishes and a win in 2006. He has not figured on the leaderboard too much in the past few weeks but his Major’s form is what counts and he has shown he has the game that can tame Augusta.

Ernie Els

The big easy is a multiple tournament winner this year and a multiple runner-up in this event in 2000 and 2004. Els won the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill at 11 under and enters the Masters in his best streak of form for some time and is worthy of consideration.

Padraig Harrington

Padraig has won three majors in recent years but the best he has managed at the Masters is a fifth place in 2002 and 2008. He finished Top ten at the Masters in two of the past 3 years and on his recent form he is a big chance to go top ten again.

Angel Cabrera

Cabrera is the reigning Masters champion who won in a play-off against Kenny Perry and Chad Campbell last year and he enters this years Masters in below average form, missing the cut in the Houston Open. has to be respected but will need to lift his game somewhat to do the double.

Camilo Villegas

In top form winning the Honda Classic last month and he has finished Top 10 on three occasions this tea and looks set to improve on his 13th position at the Masters last year.

Jim Furyk

Furyk was equal tenth in last year’s Masters and he recently won the Transitions Championship before finishing equal 11th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Jim is ranked 5th in the world and could be a top 10 chance if plays to his form of last month.

Paul Casey

Has finished Top 10 in all events he has played this year and although his best Masters effort was an equal 6th in 2004 he comes in on the back of some consistent golf.

Steve Stricker

Stricker is ranked 2 in the world at the moment and he finished sixth in last years Masters. Has the game to score well around Augusta as he showed last year and could figure in the top ten again this year.

Two Brits at the top of the Masters leaderboard. Excellent

  2. Beejay says:

Indeed Tabatha…There are 3 Brits in the Top 10 World Rankings at the moment. Lee Westwood (4), Paul Casey (6) and Ian Poulter (7) and no surprise they are doing well at the Masters.

Blog looks really good mate, keep it up!

Phil Mickelson is arguably the best left handed golfer ever. All those people that think lefties are hacks, take another look!
