2010 Inter Dominion Final Major Contenders

Blacks A Fake won both his heats in good style and he has a phenomenal Inter Dominion record, having won 3 of the past 4, and lining up for his 5th Final in a row. He sat outside reigning Inter Dominion champion Mr Feelgood in his final heat and got to the front in the straight, running a track record mile rate of 1:55.3, with the last 400 in 27.4 seconds. Blacks A Fake is a major player and will have much public sentiment on his side.

Monkey King also won both his Heats in easy fashion and he scored a very comfortable win in his final Heat, running home in a very quick 26.6 seconds after taking the lead mid-race. He is a very classy individual who has been the most impressive horse in this series to date.

Bondy continues his outstanding form and he too won both his heats in top style and scored an all the way win in his final Heat, getting home his final 400m in a slashing 26.2 seconds to have him cherry ripe for the final.

Washakie scored one of the wins of the series when he came from behind in his final heat to sit outside the short priced favourite Smoken Up, until he left Smoken Up in his wake at the final quarter to go on and record a sensational with a 26.4 seconds final 400 metres.

2010 Inter Dominion Final Preview

Will Black’s A fake make it 4 wins in five years or will the exciting Monkey King continue on his merry way and add an Inter Dominion Championship to his already impressive resume. Perhaps Bondy or Washakie might spoil the party in what should be a race to remember.

1- WASHAKI: Has been racing in great form over the whole series from some not so good draws. Went super last weekend at Newcastle sitting outside Smoking Up and beating him. This is the draw that should see him prove himself at the top level. Will be either leading or at worst sitting on the leaders back. Massive show.

2- OUR AWESOME ARMBRO: Has ran some nice placcings in both heats, but we think he will get shuffled back in the running line here and doubt he has the class to be finishing over the top these.

3- BLACKS A FAKE: Three time Inter Dominion winner who knows how to win the big races. There was a question mark over his head as to how good he was going coming into the series, but after last weeks performance when sitting outside Mr Feelgood and winning, shows he is on track for number four. If he gets to the top he could be mighty hard to run down.

4- ATOMIC ARK: Scored a nice win in the first round of heats when getting off Changeover’s back late and finishing hard. Everything went his way that night. Could try and lead early with his blistering gate speed then hand up, in saying that, we dont expect him to be a big player in this race.

5- MONKEY KING: Cannot fault a thing this horse has done. Can win from behind, can win front front, and we think he will be taken off the gate and slot in nicely in the running line, much like how he was driven when winning the Miracle Mile. He is the race favorite and deservedly so on his form in the series. Whatever beats him will win! TOP PICK

6- BAILEYS DREAM: Ran a massive race on night 1 of the heats sitting 3 wide most of the way and finishing a close 3rd. Seemed like he didn’t handle the Newcastle track that well last week when hanging badly. Will be finishing hard and a place hope

7- CHANGEOVER: Pulled hard in his first heat when leading and was beaten on the line by a horse who got a soft trip. Ran 4th to Bondy last week finishing 5 metres away and we don’t think he is going well enough to win this race, but could sneak into a place.

8- BONDY: Has won all 4 starts since coming across for this series and has also led to score in all of those 4 victories. Won’t be leading from gate 8 and will have to see if he can win by coming from behind. Going far too good to leave out of your multiples.

9- MR FEELGOOD: Last year’s winner who seemed to have every chance last week after finding the lead. Dont think leading is best suited to this guy and going back at the start and trying to get the right cart into the race could be his go. Can be dangerous late and hard to leave out of your place chances.

10- SMOKEN UP: Had every chance last week when drawing barrier 2 and finding the lead easily. Ran the first half in 64.4 but when the sprint went on he was left flat footed and Washaki got away easily. Did fight back hard to be still coming on the line to finish second and not really sure what Lance will do from this draw. Either way he will need to pull out a career best performance to win this.

Emergencies
11- SAMMY MAGUIRE and 12- BE GOOD JOHNNY: These two pacers are the emergencies for the Final and doubt either horse will get a start, but if they do we can’t see either of them being a major player in the final.

  1. Nigel says:

my tips for Inter Dominion Final is 1st Monkey King 2nd Blacks A Fake and for 3rd im selecting Bondy at $21 is money all the way to the bank as his form has been brilliant

  2. Beejay says:

They have been the form horses for the series for sure Nigel and look likely to fight it out. It is all going to be about value now.

  3. ARG says:

I do think Monkey King will be in the finish if not winning it, would rather have Washaki in rather then Bondy, has draw the pole and is a very underrated horse at this level!! Can blackie do it again?? What about a roughy getting up if there is plenty of pace on? Big long straight at Menangle, would hate to go too early… What will Lance do?? Will he pour the preassure on?? This is sure to be a cracker of a race and I am really looking forward to it that’s for sure! Will have to take bad luck or bad luck not to see Monkey King win it… By far the best form horse in the race!!

  4. Beejay says:

Spot on Arg! Tactics will play a big part and always the chance of an upset in a race like this, but hard to see anything outside the top 4 taking it out on form in the series so far.

Who do you think will lead? Where do you see the field after 400 metres?

  5. jacka says:

Got three words for ya boys BONDY BONDY BONDY i hope

  6. Beejay says:

Think that is one word three times Jacka :)

Looks to have a great chance so good good luck!
