2010 Inter Dominion Heats – Night 2 Preview at Newcastle

The second night of the 2010 Inter Dominion Heats take place at Newcastle Paceway on Saturday night 27th February with some exciting harness racing action on the programme.

Sports and Racing.com.au has a full preview of the second round of heats and the city of Newcastle will be abuzz this weekend when our best pacers do battle again to try and make their way into the 2010 Inter Dominion Final the following week.

The Newcastle International Paceway can be found around 8 kilometres from the City centre and about a 500 metre walk from the Broadmeadow railway station. the track itself is 940 metres in circumference with a straight length of 220 metres. Newcastle harness racing is conducted anti-clockwise and there is no sprint lane.

Atomic Ark, Black’s A Fake, Monkey King and Bondy all scored top wins on the first night of the Inter Dominion and Monkey King is currently the ruling favourite for the title.

2010 Inter Dominion Heat 5 preview

Smoken Up finally draws a good alley and will use this to his best advantage. Should hold the front and once doing that will be mighty hard to beat. Cincinnati Kid and Atomic Ark both have plenty of gate speed, but we highly doubt they will be able to cross or sit outside Smoken Up and win. Washaki gets another horror draw (10) and will probably have to go back at the start and come with one run at them late. Can’t be without a chance to swoop late if the speed is on early. Few Good Men got an inside run after sitting 3 back the pegs in last weeks heat, will need to do more work in his run this week.

2010 Inter Dominion Heat 6 preview

This looks like an interesting race with Be Good Johnny, Bondy, Tanabi Bromac, Sammy Maguire and Panorama Swing all having great gate speed.

If all these horses come humming out of the gate then they could be 4 across the line going into the first bend! In saying that, Bondy should be able to hold the front, He looked good winning in his heat last week after leading. Be Good Johnny will be best served handing up to Bondy and keeping the spot behind the leader,  then saving himself to try and get off the leaders back in the straight and he is a good each way chance. The other main player in this heat is Changeover, with reports from the stable that he fired up and over raced badly last week when finding the lead in his heat and getting run down late. If they go crazy up front he will be sure to be hitting the line hard from behind.

2010 Inter Dominion Heat 7 preview

Monkey King was simply awesome last week in winning his heat. Got to the front easy and then dictated the race getting home in his last quarter in 26.7 and thats low flying! Can’t see him getting beaten in this heat and take something special to beat him in the final for that matter! I Am Sam may be able to push out of the gate and get the spot behind Monkey King but he is more of a one paced grinding horse then a sit sprinter. Karloo Mick is a massive chance of not making the final after finishing 5th last week and now having a horror draw to contend (10) with, he will need to finish top 2 to be any chance of making the final.

2010 Inter Dominion Heat 8 preview

Going to put Baileys Dream on top here in an open last heat of the night. Thought his run last weekend was super sitting 3 wide for most of the trip. Ricky May should press on with him here and roll to the top. Black’s A Fake scored a nice win last week holding off Our Awesome Ambro. Blackie will find this a little harder coming from gate 9, we are not sure he has that explosive blast he once had. Look for Blackie to be coming around them to sit parked turning it into a staying event. If Our Awesome Ambro can find the spot behind the leader he is also not without a chance if he gets some clear running into the straight.
